“Rippin’ Moses wins first heat of the Lew Dorsa Memorial”
The Lew Dorsa Memorial was first contested back in 1980 when David Hamer won the final with Next In Line. Notable winners of the Cannington feature include Blue Echo, Sandi’s Me Mum (twice), Storm Act, Cobram Storm, Token Royale (twice), Pedrosa, Cobra Clutch, Vice Grip and Elite Machine. There were two heats tonight with the first four place getters from each progressing to next week’s Final. Heat One belonged to the Shayne Williams prepared Rippin’ Moses who out-mustered Rare Speed to the first turn before winning by two lengths in a new PB of 29.60. West On Boonie flashed home for second and Bezzecchi also stormed home for third. Heat Two was a messy affair with leader Bagnaia sustaining an injury just prior to straightening. Aston Costello was left in front to score in 29.89 over Kuro and Aston Nero. An excellent field has been assembled and the box draw looks like this :
