“Canya Ice Man wins the Kanyana Cup for Sean Kavanagh”

Highly talented up and comer Canya Ice Man overcame a difficult draw (box 5) to win tonight’s GreyhoundsWA Kanyana Cup Final. His father Tommy Shelby won this race back in 2020 and five years on one of his sons has repeated the dose. Canya Ice Man was slowly away and fifth at the first turn before storming home for a strong second in his heat behind Go Gettem Nelly. Tonight Go Gettem Nelly again pounced on the early lead but Canya Ice Man began a lot faster and settled on the outside of the leader. The pair matched strides until the top of the front straight when Canya Ice Man took over and drew clear to win by one length. Go Gettem Nelly held on for second a length ahead of the fast finishing Fleetwood Kazak. Canya Ice Man took his record to 7 wins from 17 starts and his stakemoney earned to over $45,000.
