“Barbeque Man fastest qualifier for Spring Gift”
Talented open class chaser Barbeque Man (My Redeemer x Phosphenes) worked hard to earn his spot into the Listed Spring Gift with a gritty 27.22 win. The red brindle dog powered past 400m track record holder Sunset Hornet in the first 50m to set up a three length margin down the back straight. Which was more than enough to hold off Sunset Hornet’s late challenge to win by a length and a half at the finish. Barbeque Man is yet to taste silverware success but has been placed in the Winter Sprint and W.A. Sprint Championship finals earlier in the year. Other heat winners include last week’s Group 2 Mandurah Cup winner Molfetta Cruise (27.27) and Wise Barra (27.45)
