“Jimmy Rocks returns to winners list for Justin Wood”

Versatile chaser Jimmy Rocks has had a terrific career over a variety of distances and was a heavily backed winner in tonight’s opening event. The son of Bit Chili will turn five years old this October and the switch to Masters company certainly paid off tonight. He mustered quickly to hold the lead at the first turn before leading throughout in a handy 22.67 in wet conditions. He held off kennel-mate Wooden Hands by 2.25 lengths and close up in third position was the Tim Gummow trained Sunset Daphne. Jimmy Rocks took his career record to 71 starts for 14 wins, 18 minor placings and over $69,000 in stake earnings. The veteran also got favourite backers off to a great start to the night, landing some big bets given he started $1.45 fixed odds.
