“Spooky Hook takes out The Shorts Final for Andrew McLaren”

An even and high quality field was assembled for tonight’s running of ‘The Shorts’ Final at Mandurah. Five greyhounds, namely Spooky Hook ($4.00), Sunset Pepe ($3.80), All Over Kaja ($4.80), Sunset Nightjar ($4.80) and What A Ripper ($4.80) battled it out for favouritism after some terrific performances in the heats. Outsider Sunset Bubbles flew out of box five and found the lead with Sunset Pepe and Spooky Hook settling in second and third positions. Spooky Hook railed to the lead with 150m to go before powering clear in the home straight to score by 2.75 lengths. Sunset Pepe grabbed second and a length away third was initial leader Sunset Bubbles. Spooky Hook recorded 22.21 and took his career record to 11 wins from 20 starts for Nambeelup based trainer Andrew McLaren.
