“Opal Deluxe survives late scare for Kaine Buckwell”

Fast breaker Opal Deluxe was heavily supported (into $1.60) from box one in tonight’s John Nangle Country Novice over 300m. The daughter of Good Odds Harada jostled for the lead with Torpedo Girl for the first 100m before kicking strongly at the top of the straight. However as she found a length on straightening she wobbled a bit wide and Torpedo Girl checked her hind legs. Opal Deluxe lost momentum while Torpedo Girl made ground along with Wild Winnie who was blasting home closer to the rail. The trio hit the line locked together and while the judge’s took a minute to post numbers the favourite was deemed to be the winner by the bearest possible margin. Wild Winnie finished second and Torpedo Girl third with margins being a nose by a half head.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 3 Number 6 SUNSET BUBBLES : Flashed home late to finish third over 300m.

Race 5 Number 7 JASON KEEPING : Mustered to the front before winning by two lengths over 400m.
