“Flying Freda wins Mandurah Distance Challenge”

Race favourite Flying Freda overcame box eight to win tonight’s feature event over 652m, the Mandurah Distance Championship. Despite being beaten in her heat by Sunset Louie she was sent out a $2.35 fixed odds favourite for Chris Halse. The daughter of Tommy Shelby began moderately from the wide draw but quickly zoomed forward and took the lead past the catching pen. Jami Keeping and Ballistic Ant gave pursuit but were unable to level up in the run to the line. Flying Freda scored by a length in 37.05 and was holding her rivals over the concluding stages. The victory gave trainer Chris Halse and owner Justin Warwick back to back wins in the race after Couch Surfer won last year. Flying Freda has now won 14 of 38 career starts and earned over $128,000.
