“Crumble Monelli goes back to back in the Birthday Cup”

Super sprinter Crumble Monelli has taken out tonight’s Group Two Birthday Cup at Mandurah. The son of Barcia Bale won last year over 405m and repeated the dose this evening over 400m, in turn becoming the second greyhound in history to win two on the trot. Back Tonight for John Iwanyk achieved the feat back in 2007 and 2008. This evening speedster Renegade Cochise set the pace from box two and Crumble Monelli settled in a clear second at the first turn. At half way Crumble opted to try and rail inside of the leader and on straightening took that gap. He dashed away to win by 3.25 lengths in 21.95. Renegade Cochise held on for second for Cosi Dagostino and 50/1 outsider Go Seek Kotoni filled third for Damien Crudeli. Crumble Monelli has now started 52 times for 28 wins, 6 seconds, 6 thirds and more than $649,000 in stake earnings.
