20231116 – Mandurah Thursday

“Minh Smiley wins brilliantly for Ben MacLean”

Former Victorian sprinter Minh Smiley has now started twice at the new Mandurah circuit for two tidy victories. The daughter of Fernando Bale won over 385m at Shepparton in September but was unplaced at her first two WA starts at Cannington. At the opening Mandurah meeting last Thursday she recovered from a slow jump to win over 400m in 22.64 when she held off West On Outlaw. This evening she began poorly again but after settling fourth at the first turn railed to the front and then raced away to win by five lengths. She recorded an impressive time of 22.47 and looked to have plenty of energy left as she crossed the line. Her trainer Ben MacLean continues to prepare a stack of winners regularly and Minh Smiley provided him with his 205th winner for the calendar year.
