20230815 – Cannington Tuesday

“Sunset Cobra overcomes box eight to win on debut”

The David Hobby bred, owned and trained Sunset Cobra accounted for a handy maiden field tonight over 380m. Race favourite Zulu Holly pinged to an outright lead but Sunset Cobra also began well and settled in a clear second at the first turn. She challenged strongly and took the lead in the shadows of the post to win by half a length in 22.31. They finished nine lengths ahead of the third placed Sheridan Keeping. Sunset Cobra is sired by Sunset Spitfire who won 14 of 17 career starts and boasted an amazing PB of 29.39 around Cannington. The mother Pixie Monelli earned over $120,000 from her 83 starts and made the podium on a whopping 53 occasions.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 1 Number 7 TORI SAVED ME : Defied her 25/1 odds by rocketing to an early lead before winning by three lengths in a handy 16.26.

Race 2 Number 6 LIP TRICKS : Railed home powerfully after a moderate getaway.
