“Granite Song hangs on over 600m”

Seasoned sprinter Granite Song rose to 600m for the first time tonight and despite tiring late held on for a 0.75 length victory. The son of Aston Dee Bee has had a decorated career winning 21 races over shorter distances and accumulating over $166,000 in stakes. His Banjup based trainer Diane Carmody nominated for the longer trip tonight after finding trouble and finishing last in a City Free For All last Saturday. He boxed fairly before blasting to the front and setting up a six length lead in the middle stages. Second favourite Harley Monelli was in hot pursuit and made up plenty of ground but just failed to steal the win. Granite Song clocked 35.09 and in third position was Anasazi monelli who worked home nicely along with the fourth placed Blessed Doll.

HOUNDS TO FOLLOW :

Race 2 Number 5 EARLY WORM : Broke through for an overdue win and hit the line strongly.

Race 3 Number 9 MOMENT TO BOOGIE : Relished the inside alley and scored by 4.25 lengths.
