“Lil Waves causes upset result in first race for Christine Bennett”

Christine Bennett took out tonight’s first event, the Free Entry TABtouch Park Maiden. The son of Zambora Brockie had only managed 4 minor placings from 15 career starts leading in to the race and was sent out at the juicy fixed odds of $61.00 with TABtouch. He had been racing unsuccessfully over 275m and 302m against Country Class and it was hard to envisage him being competitive tonight. However after a good jump he burnt off his rivals to find the front before interference occurred behind him. About five greyhounds were in pursuit and all squashed together at the first turn and all lost momentum. This allowed Lil Waves to set up a big lead and then hang on to win in a steady time of 23.34. Favourites West On Crackers (second) and Dandalup Blazer (third) filled the minor placings for Chris Halse and Corey White respectively. Christine Bennett does a great job with a small team of greyhounds and has enjoyed plenty of success in the past with the likes of Daring Display, Reidy’s Runner, Conway Gundi, Nosey Flyer and Slim Return.

Race 2 Number 6 RAVEN CLASSIFIED : Accelerated to the front and clocked a flying 6.57 first sectional before weakening late to finish third, will win plenty of races with that early burn.

Race 4 Number 8 BABY VONSHAE : Caught the eye with a fast finishing third behind kennel-mates Sequential and Punctuation.
