“Vice Grip wins Mandurah Cup for Adam Smithson”

Super sprinter Vice Grip accounted for a star-studded lineup to win this year’s Group 3 Mandurah Cup for Nambeelup trainer Adam Smithson. The classy customer began well to hold out Amplified who was on his outside attempting to cross to the rail. Speedster Bones McCoy zoomed through on their inside to set the pace but with Vice Grip settling in second the Smithson runner was always positioned to win. Turning for home he swung around the heels of Bones McCoy and dashed to the front before scoring by 2.25 lengths in a fast 27.25. Amplified finished quickly along the rail to be the runner up ahead of the brave and cheeky short-courser Bones McCoy. Vice Grip took his career statistics to a magnificent 77 starts for 35 wins and more than $467,000 in stakes.

Race 2 Number 5 KEEPING TUX : Stormed away late to win over 405m in 22.87.

Race 3 Number 1 WEST ON INDIGO : Accounted for a top field to win over 490m in 27.82.
