“Shantaram creates big impression first up”

First starter Shantaram could not have been more impressive tonight, leading throughout over 490m in a lightning fast 27.38. From box six he flew from the boxes and crossed the inside division easily before carving out one of the quickest runs of the year. The regally bred Desire Monelli chased him home and was beaten six lengths and another four lengths away third was Western Run. Shantaram is raced by the Mark Adams managed Crisis Creek Syndicate and was named after the 2003 novel written by Gregory Roberts. He is trained by Nambeelup based trainer Adam Smithson and looks set for a very bright future.

Trial 2 Number 1 PHANTOM MONELLI : Scored impressively and clocked a smart 22.86 for David Hobby.

Race 1 Number 1 STARLIGHT GUESS : Improved sharply to win in 22.59 after being placed in just 1 of her first 7 starts.
