20190410 – Cannington Wednesday – Autumn Maiden Classic

MIKEY’S RANT (Kinloch Brae- Starlight Shine) overcame trouble on the first corner to claim the leaders going off the back straight and win the Greyhounds WA Autumn Maiden Classic final. The Paul Stuart trained dog finished second on debut in his heat behind Equity Fund. The black dog won by 2 lengths over Who’s Got Subi in 30.37.

WHATTA DREAM (Bobby Boucheau- High Tide Ebony) scored a head win over Imperial Li in a driving finish over the 380 metres. The Murray Ion trained bitch ended a losing sequence of 19 starts when she scored in 22.38.

HELLO I’M RONGO (Barcia Bale- Sharon Monelli) claimed the favourite Westdale Anne on the line to score by a half length in 30.37 after being headed coming to the home corner. The Ben MacLean trained dog had been racing over the 405 metres at Mandurah before returning to Head Quarters where he hadn’t won in 8 starts at the track. The change obviously helped as he showed strength in the run to the line.

EQUITY FUND (Kinloch Brae- Shared Equity) overcame a moderate start and early trouble to lead the field home in the opening heat of the Autumn Maiden Classic. The Chris Halse trained dog was on debut after finishing second to Mikey’s Rant in a qualifying trial the week before. The result was reversed tonight as he scored by 4 1/2 lengths from an unlucky Mikey’s Rant in 30.44.

HOSTILE GUESS (Hostile- Viridian) also won his Maiden Classic heat on debut after finding the top going off the back straight and going on to defeat Scootaloo by 1 1/4 lengths in 30.62. The Linda Smithson trained dog had won his qualifying trial by 4 lengths two weeks prior in 30.26.

LUCY’S OTIS (Dyna Double One- Lucy Wires) railed brilliantly to run down the leader Hastie Guess to win by a neck in 29.97. The well bred dog was having his first start for Kody Charles and returning from injury. The red brindle dog last raced in WA when injured in early November last year after coming across from Victoria with a Maiden win to his name.
