“Shinboner Spirit leads like Glenn Archer”
North Melbourne Kangarooos tragic Graeme Hall won tonight’s opening event with a juvenile chaser he bred, trains and part owns by the name of Shinboner Spirit. The son of Sure As is out of Wandy Carla, an honest railer who raced in Melbourne, Sydney, Townsville and Cairns before heading to Hall’s Thornlie kennel. She won seven races in the west before heading to the breeding barn. Shinboner Spirit had displayed early speed at her first three career starts at Mandurah before finishing fourth, second and fourth respectively. Tonight she drew box two over 380m at Cannington and after a fast jump and a fast mid-race section was able to score by seven lengths in 22.24. Race favourite Outlaw Genius had missed the kick from box eight before running on to claim second for John Iwanyk. Rank outsider General Mitza finished in third spot at odds of 40/1 for Colin Bainbridge. Shinboner Spirit looks set to win plenty of races with her early speed, she is owned by C. Lincoln, Jacky Hall, Lisa Hall and Graeme Hall.
