Rose Wins First
Big framed speedster Warawarrup Lad cashed in on box one in tonight’s opening event, the $27 Thursday Buffet York Stake. Following five unplaced runs he bounced out fairly from the rails position before mustering to an outright lead. The Wayne Rose trained chaser sprinted clear of rivals and straightened with a two length break over closest pursuer Elite Bobbie and favourite Marchi Lee. Although a little weary on the line, the son of NSW based sire Bond held on for a 3/4 length victory in 17.50. His time was two lengths outside of his personal best but the race was run in wet conditions. It was Rose’s fourth winner for 2012.

Man Dime Scorches in Final
The wonderful start to 2012 has continued for up and coming trainer Sean Kavanagh after his star youngster Man Dime remained undefeated in tonight’s Sprinter Gold Series Final. The son of Victorian based sire Exceptional made it four from four, leading throughout in 22.79. He met a top field that included fellow heat winners Stonehorse, Marie Monelli and Glee. Despite only having three starts under his belt, he handled the green box with ease, surging clear of his rivals in the first fifty metres. The winning time of 22.79 was better than it looks, given that the event was run in drizzling rain. Stonehorse was a few lengths astern and has now had ten starts at the Mandurah track for two victories and eight seconds.

Worked home strongly to be placed after a poor getaway from an awkward draw. Overtook some handy types.

Race 6 No 2 - Plantagenet: [View Replay]

Overcame a sluggish start to defeat handy sprinters Nurse Trina and Riverside Belle comfortably. His time of 22.77 was slightly faster than the time brilliant youngster Man Dime clocked earlier in similar conditions.
