“Spur Monelli digs deep to score over 302m”

Spur Monelli turns three next month and won his eighth race tonight, reeling in leader Kaos Be Cool and posting a smart 17.28. He had finished fourth at his four previous runs and hadn’t been far way, finishing no more than 4.25 lengths from the winner. He sprung out of box five and matched Kaos Be Cool before being out-mustered in the middle stages. Turning for home he surged strongly at Kaos Be Cool, eventually gaining the upper hand and winning by a length. Canute’s Law flew late to snatch second and a half head away third was Kaos Be Cool. Spur Monelli provided Canning Vale trainer Brad Cook with an early double after Cher Keeping also won over 302m earlier in the night. Cook now boasts a whopping 103 winners for the calendar year.
