“Catalonia creates big impression on debut for Paul Stuart”

The regally bred Catalonia produced a mighty debut performance in tonight’s Get The TABtouch Maiden over 405m. From box five the 30kg red brindle dog began speedily along with Hello I’m Ruby (box four) before out-mustering her and finding an uncontested lead. The Crossman based Conway Gundi was also having his first race start for Christine Bennett and he whizzed around the outside to give chase to Catalonia. Catalonia straightened four lengths in front but powered away late to win officially by eight lengths. Conway Gundi held down second ahead of Space Ghost who snuck into third along the rail. Catalonia hadn’t been sighted since March when he qualified in a brilliant 22.67, a time almost two lengths slower than the one he posted this evening. He is by Kinloch Brae and is out of star stayer Miata who was also trained by Nambeelup mentor Paul Stuart(pictured). Whilst Catalonia is obviously a greyhound to follow Conway Gundi’s mid race speed was exceptional and he should be winning at his second race┬ástart.

Race 1 Number 2 MEARLE GUNDI : Had excuses before flying home late to finish a close up fourth.

Race 3 Number 1 ACCOUNTABILITY : Improved from the inside draw and checked off the leader’s heels at a vital stage. Looks ready to win.
