“Junk Yard Daisy breaks maiden status at Northam debut”
Southern River based trainer James Jeffries is enjoying another great season at the Northam venue and he kicked his afternoon off with a victory in the 297m maiden. Junk Yard Daisy was well supported from box three and sent out a $1.50 favourite. She had won a 380m qually at Cannington in 22.38 before finishing third, second and fourth at her three respective race starts there. Today she erupted out of the boxes before setting up a big lead and winning by five lengths in 17.63. Nambeelup trainer Phil Worthington prepared the next three greyhounds to cross the line with Champagne Betty second, Queen Of Sparta third and Marapana in fourth position. Junk Yard Daisy is raced by James Jeffries and Gemma Jovanovic and with her early pace is sure to rack up plenty of earnings.
