“Hello I’m Nessa wins Maiden Final”

Southern River based trainer Ben MacLean produced a very rough result tonight when he won the TABtouch Maiden Final over 380m with 60/1 rank outsider Hello I’m Nessa. Of the eight finalists she qualified in the slowest time (22.57) and also drew awkwardly in box eight. Race favourite Sudoku Ninja drew box seven and after qualifying fastest in 22.00 was sent out an odds on favourite for Terry Erenshaw. As the boxes opened Hello I’m Nessa exploded out and with some movement towards the rail crowded and checked Sudoku Ninja. She also cramped up most of the field as she crashed across and worked to an outright lead. Outlaw Genius and Sunset Moschino gave chase but Hello I’m Nessa had set up victory with that ‘cannnonball’ exit and held on by a length. Sunset Moschino ran second ahead of Outlaw Genius and Starlight Carla finished fourth after being squeezed at the first turn. Hello I’m Nessa started $61.00 fixed odds and returned a whopping $48.60 on tote. She is a beautifully bred youngster who turns two in November. She is sired by Barcia Bale and is out of brilliant race bitch Sharon Monelli.
