20180512 – Cannington Saturday

FERDINAND (Fernando Bale- Velocity Sofia) weaved his way through the field to score a remarkable win in the opening heat of the Group 2 Brittons Formal Wear WA Derby. The Jamie Marsh trained youngster has just turned two years of age and had to overcome checking off heals nearing the home corner before getting through to win in 30.19. The brindle dog defeated Mandurah Derby winner Sieben Monelli by 3/4 length.

WEST ON AUGIE (Fernando Bale- Te Amo) jumped to the front in the second heat of the Group 2 Brittons Formal Wear WA Derby and although pressurised early, was never headed and raced clear to win by 5 lengths over Eighty Eight in 29.76. The Chris Halse trained star will start a short priced favourite in next weeks final.

BLACK BOMBSHELL (Barcia Bale- Tearsabout Tears) showed speed from box 6 and recorded his first win since he won a heat of the Group 1 Sky Racing Perth in April. The Enzo Crudeli trained dog railed beautifully and defeated Decimal by 4 lengths in a PB 29.63. The race favourite Astrozone and Perth Cup winner Trouper Monelli cost themselves a winning chance soon after the start when checking.

DANDALUP GIRL (Shakey Jakey- Rerod Rose) proved her first up win over the 600 metres was no fluke as she led throughout again and clocked a PB 34.79 in defeating Black Fusileer by 5 lengths. The Kody Charles trained bitch showed speed from box 3 and looks a promising type.
