20180511 – Mandurah Friday

“Mandurah Middle Distance Challenge Box Draw”

The Mandurah Middle Distance Challenge Series (647m) was first staged in 2011 when the late Keith Harding prepared Barney Stinson to victory. Winners since are Roxy Mac, Pedro’s Finest, Reverberate, Expect A Guess, Dubliner and Serena Fly High last year. Tonight we had two heats with the first four from each event progressing to next Friday’s $15,000 Final. Heat One was taken out by former NSW chaser Smooth Over. The son of Smooth Fancy hadn’t won since August but the rise to 647m was in his favour and he made up many lengths to win in 37.34. Dandalup Annie battled on well for second ahead of Tallulah (third) and Techno (fourth) who both faded after sharing the lead at the top of the straight. Heat Two was taken out by the Enzo Crudeli trained Chezzy Allen who led throughout from box one in 37.06. Ramifications grinded out a gutsy second ahead of Goldie Rock’s and veteran Iona Carlson. Short priced favourite Petunia Monelli failed to fire at her first run since December finishing at the rear. Chezzy Allen has qualified fastest and chalked up her twenty first career victory at her sixtieth outing. The box draw for the final :
