“The boy from Kenwick notches a double”
Canning Vale trainer Brad Cook (pictured) achieved an early double this evening with speedsters Buster Keeping and Chevy Sheikh both saluting from wide boxes. Last night he won with Wildash Nelly at Cannington over 380m and it didn’t take long for the kennel to ‘get rolling’ at Mandurah tonight. Buster Keeping as usual began only moderately (from box 8) but as his rivals bunched he swept around them to win over 302m in 17.27. Wide tracker Chevy Sheikh relished his wide draw (box 7) when he outsped his rivals to lead before scoring in a fast 22.97 over the very consistent chaser Charcoal Avenue. Cook has enjoyed a lot of success at all three WA race tracks on a regular basis for some time now, specialising in short coursers. Ledaro Holly spearheaded the Cook kennel for many years, winning more than she lost mainly over 297m at Northam. Tomorrow he ‘saddles up’ four runners at the Mandurah Provincial meeting, Humph Keeping (Race 1 Number 6), Spur Monelli (Race 2 Number 1), Adele Keeping (Race 5 Number 5) and African Leopard (Race 12 Number 2).
