“Bontem Delly cruises to Maiden Final win”
Regally bred young chaser Bontem Delly proved far too slippery for her rivals tonight when victorious over 405m in the Sign Strategy Maiden Final. The daughter of Kinloch Brae is out of great producing dam Starlight Delly and on Melbourne Cup Day created a big impression when an all the way winner in a lightning time of 22.50. She started $1.20 this evening and from box two quickly zoomed to the front before winning by three lengths over the Steve Withers prepared Fundamental. Fundamental is also bred in the purple (Fernando Bale x Forty Two Below) and similarly looks to have a bright future. Finishing third was the Chris Halse trained Grand Larceny who was prominent throughout. Bontem Delly was creatively named by part-owner Peter Cameron, combining the black bitch’s mother’s kennel name (Delly) with his favourite footballer Marcus Bontempelli.
