20171012 – Mandurah Thursday

“Magic Vonnie turns form around from box one”

The Shane Beard prepared Magic Vonnie improved on some poor numerical form to win tonight’s Mandurah Mail Grade 6 over 302m. Her most recent victory resulted eighteen months ago when she scored over 405m in a fast 22.95. Tonight she wore the red stretch-vest and was sent out at $13 with the WA TAB. Unplaced at all thirteen previous starts over the 302m distance it’s fair to say she wasn’t given much hope by punters. However after a fair jump she held out early challenges from Moment For Us (box 4) and Hey Bail (box 5) and took an outright lead. She dashed away in the middle stages before winning by a length in the modest time of 17.66. Epic Obsession railed home well for second ahead of the rank outsider Hey Bail. Magic Vonnie at the age of four and a half has now won 11 of 84 career starts and over $22,000 in earnings.
