MY BRO FABIO (Turanza Bale- Flamenco) scored a brilliant come from behind win in the Gr 1 Sky Racing Perth Cup final for trainer Brooke Ennis. The Victorian chaser who won the Gr 1 Hume Cup in November, stayed out of trouble from box 8 with plenty happening on the first corner. Downlight crossed from box 6 and checked the favourite Star Recall in the process. Astronomize hit the rail and in the process the Jason Thompson trained Whodat Knockin’ pushed through as Downlight moved off the fence going down the back straight. With My Bro Fabio only having two runners behind him leaving the catching pen, the black dog worked to the lead coming to the home corner and went on to win by 1 length in 30.34. The win took his stake earning to $370,000.
SPACE STAR (Bekim Bale- Tonto Tears) scored an amazing win in the Gr 1 Sky Racing Galaxy giving trainer Robert Britton his second successive win after scoring last year in similar circumstances with Born Ali. The NSW bred and owned dog worked across from box 7 to lead going past the judge the first time with Starc and Lady Toy sitting on his heels. Going off the back straight the black dog was joined by Lady Toy and the two settled down to a titanic battle before Space Star lifted again and scored by 1 1/4 lengths in 41.63.
DYNA DOUBLE ONE (Barcia Bale- Crystin Bale) began fairly and then mustered through underneath of Gone To Heaven into the first corner and then led through out to score by 1 1/2 lengths in 30.20. The Andrea Dailly trained young star of the future was having just his 8th career start and tonight’s win in the Gr 3 Consolation of the Sky Racing Perth Cup was his 5th victory. He has already won over $65,000 in stakes and is yet to turn two years of age. Irish import Droopy’s Bentley ran a big race to finish second ahead of Gone To Heaven.
ALL STRUNG OUT (Bekim Bale- Casey’s Angel) powered home over the top of kennel mate West On Delly to take out the 2nd Sky Racing Perth Cup Consolation. The Chris Halse trained dog has now won 3 times from 6 starts since arriving from Victoria. West On Delly led from box 3 while race favourite Allen Deed blew his chance with a poor start. All Strung Out clocked a 30.74 winning time.
